Tape Drives
To subscribe to our tape back-up solution you must have a tape drive installed on your server. All our dedicated servers can be configured with tape drives for a full daily tape back-up of system, database and content files. We use Sony AIT drives because of their speed and reliability. Currently we offer the following sizes: 35GB, 50GB, and 100GB. For maximum protection, we highly recommend implementing our tape rotation service.

Tape Back-up Software
Several choices are available for the back-up of data to a tape drive depending on how comprehensive you would like the back-up to be. Back-ups are performed through UltraBac software.

The UltraBac single server back-up option is ideal for the back-up of data to a single server. This option can be used in single server mode, in conjunction with Level 1 (see below), in conjunction with Level 2, or in conjunction with both.
Important note: Allows back-up of the licensed server only.

LEVEL 1: General Locked File Backup - Level 1 gives you the ability to back up locked exclusive files or files that Windows 2000 cannot access while open (i.e. WINS database, local PST files, etc.). Level 1 backup can be used in conjunction with Level 2 or can be purchased independently.
Important note: Local backup only to tape.

LEVEL 2: SQL Backup (Single + SQL database) - Level 2 gives you the ability to back up an open Microsoft SQL server database without closing the application. Level 2 backup can be used in conjunction with Level 1 or can be purchased independently.
Important note: This is the only option we offer that provides full backup of the MS SQL database and all its files while the server is online.

Tape Rotation Service
To ensure data reliability, we offer tape rotation on a weekly or monthly basis. This service can be used in conjunction with our tape back-up service. All tapes are stored in an off-site, fire-safe, secured facility. Tape rotation is performed late Sunday evenings unless otherwise specified.

Back-up service fees cover only routine and scheduled back-up operations. They do not cover the process of restoring files. File restoration will be provided at customer request at our standard System Administration Service Rates.

While we will do everything in our power to maintain tape backup hardware properly, we cannot guarantee its integrity. Although Advanced Media Productions will immediately repair or replace all failed tape drive hardware and tapes as necessary, we cannot be held liable for any downtime or data loss that may result from tape drive failures.
